More Dead Presidents!

What kind of summer would it be if we did not visit the grave of a past American president? This time we drove out to Oyster Bay, Long Island, to pay respects to one of the greatest presidents ever - the Bull Moose, Teddy Roosevelt.

In other cemetery news, we stopped at Kensico Cemetery in Vallhalla, NY, where John's dad was born. (Yes, he was born in the cemetery.) We visited the graves of John's grandparents, Michael & Anna, who emigrated to the US from Italy. We also visited the graves of swing band leader Tommy Dorsey and Yankee Lou Gehrig.

Yes, I like graveyards. Deal with it!

We have arrived at Gheghe & Poppy's house! Here are some shots from our day at Sesame Street.

On the Road Again!

For those of you who follow these things, our annual summer road trip is underway! We are currently in Rocky Mount, NC - it is about 6am, and Will and I are in the lobby of our hotel, taking advantage of the quiet, the complimentary computer/internet, and watching Bear in the Big Blue House. The staff is getting ready to put out the breakfast buffet, and I haven't seen any other hotel guests up yet, so looks like Will and I will have first crack at that! After breakfast, we have a relatively short trip to Philly (5 hours?), and then we will be hitting Sesame Street tomorrow! I hope to update when I can. Enjoy your day!
**UPDATED TUESDAY, JUNE 20**
After a fun day at Sesame Place (pix to come) we made it safely to the Big Apple... we are at Grandma's house in Pelham Manor for a few days, then on to EQ for the big wedding weekend!

Jumping on the Old Photo Bandwagon!

I have been spending time getting ready for our annual road trip, so we have not been taking many exciting pictures this week. So, I thought I would post some oldies...

See you all in about a week for the Summer 2006 photo shoot extravaganza!

Disappearing Island.

Yesterday we enjoyed the great weather out on the Intracoastal Waterway in Daytona. We took a nice boat ride and anchored at one of the area's "Disappearing Islands" - a strip of beach that appears during low tide and slowly "disappears" as the tide comes in. These islands are popular spots for boaters, who anchor on the shore and sit, picnic, and play on the beach. The kids had a great time playing in the warm tide pools that formed on the island. If you have noticed that the boat looks different from this one, that is because it is! We made a decision to trade in the cruiser for a smaller, trailerable deck boat. We were just not using the cruiser like we had hoped we would, and it was becoming the proverbial money pit. We are very happy with the decision, as we had a great, low-stress day yesterday! John and Jack are looking forward to starting wakeboarding as soon as Jack gets the OK from the orthopedist.

Before and After.

We made some home improvements recently (can I get a Tim Taylor grunt?)

Artist at Work.

Will was up early this morning (early compared to his sister, anyway) creating with colored pencils. He enjoyed it so much, after he was done he dropped every single pencil behind my desk, so no one else could have them. Always planning ahead, this kid.

Call him Seamore. Call me Crazy.

Yes, I know. I KNOW!!! But he is pretty darn cute, no? I blame Holly and her ilk in Seneca. The kids got to know their cats, Aruba and Jamaica, pretty well, and well, those cats are pretty cool. So, why not? The name, for the uninitiated, is taken from the two sea lions at Seaworld named Clyde and Seamore. He is very small, so we haven't yet given Clyde full access. We will be introducing them slowly. Clyde seems like he wants to play with him, but Seamore is a bit wary. Anyway, we will keep you updated. Leah is also giving updates on her blog.

The Great Outdoors.

Today Holly & I took the Magnificent Seven to Chau Ram Park to hike along rocky banks of the Chauga River and check out the Ramsey Creek waterfalls. The kids had fun capturing various forms of wildlife in the creek!
