Hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween!

Sundancing.

Spent a beautiful afternoon on the boat today! We were happy to see that she survived the rough Wilma winds and waters of last Monday. Leah brought along her bud Olivia - Jack was busy fighting the Dark Side with his Jedi friends - for the ride. It was a short ride, and a windy & cool one, but always a true pleasure.

The View From Here...

... ain't pretty.

The sewer project is now in full swing - they are replacing the ill-advised septic system in our neighborhood with sewers. They started about a month or so ago, and have now made their way up our street. All in all, the project is due to be completed in February. We are keeping our eyes on the prize. In the meantime, Will has something cool to watch from the window. And Clyde finally has something real to bark at all day.

Wilma.

We are watching and waiting... they say we can expect tropical-storm force winds beginning at sunrise and through the day Monday. Doesn't look to be too bad, though! We will try to keep you updated!

UPDATE: 9:41pm. Nothin' doin'. Some rain and lightning. Tornado WATCH. Public schools will be closed tomorrow. Lucky for us, since we homeschool, it is business as usual!

UPDATE TWO: Apparently, according to some people who shall remain nameless, this is not "luck," but rather, "injustice."

MONDAY UPDATE: About 9am, just seems like a typical rainy day. Some wind gusts are pretty strong, but there is no thunder or lightning. The really bizarre thing is that it is cccold... like 64 degrees!! OK, I know what you are saying, but yesterday it was 90! And they say we could wake up tomorrow morning to temps in the FORTIES!!! And me with no mittens!!

The Maiden Voyage.

We had a fantastic time taking the new "wheels" out for a spin! We arrived at the marina Friday evening, around 8pm... we had a picnic dinner onboard, followed by a family toast to great times ahead. We spent the night in the cabin (note to self: remember the pillows next time!). Woke up early to an absolutely beautiful morning - gorgeous sunrise and an actual chill in the air. After enjoying breakfast topside, we took her out of the marina and into the ICW for a smooth, great ride... complete with dolphins jumping next to us! Our maiden voyage was a success!

Another Entry!

We have recieved yet another entry!

Boat in Harbor, Cat out of Bag.

So yesterday we told the kids that we were going to drive over to Daytona Beach because while Daddy was there for work, he found "something fun we would like" and he wanted to take us there. We pulled into Halifax Harbor Marina... I told them that Daddy wanted to walk around the docks and look at the boats (this was not hard to believe, we do it all the time). So, we all walked down the dock, pointing out cool boats, etc. Then when we got to the last one, a Sea Ray 260 Sundancer, John said, "Hey, do you guys see anyone around here?"
"No," the kids said, glancing around.
"Then let's sneak on this boat and check it out," Daddy said.
"What are you crazy? Noooooo!"
John jumped onto the boat. The kids' eyes grew bigger and they started to back away from the boat. "Daddy! Get off of there! What are you doing???"
"C'mon, it's OK... no one will know," I said.
"We do NOT know you!! Stop!" Leah and Jack, horrified, turn around and head for the car.
"Wait! Come back! Get on this boat right now!!" we said.
"No way!! You are both crazy!"
Finally, we convinced them to at least come closer so they could read the red tag that was clipped to the boat. What a coincidence! It says, "MANCUSO"!
"Ohhhhhhhhhh! This is OUR boat!??!!??" Horror turns to disbelief, then to realization, then to glee.
Yes it is!

Field Trip!

We had a great time on our trip to the St. Augustine Lighthouse yesterday! We attended the Lighthouse's "Homeschool Days," learning about pirates and the history of the lighthouse. Leah, Aunt Karen and Andrew made the 219 steps to the top, where they could see for miles! After making a compass, designing a pirate flag, and walking the trails through the woods, we hit downtown St. Augustine - visiting the Castillo de San Marcos and the USA's Oldest Wooden Schoolhouse.

Oh. Great.

Spammers have invaded our blog. Nice. If you want to comment on a post, you will now have to answer a word verification question. Hopefully this will eliminate the losers. Sorry to all.
