We're Ready!!

So looks like Tropical Storm Ernesto is headed for us... see that "X" on the map? That is our house. Anyway, we are not at all worried about the storm - we will have some blustery weather throughout the day and evening, but nothing too severe. The county has canceled school for tomorrow - luckily we homeschool so we can still hit the books! Yay! We will keep you posted!

Happy Birthday, Suzy-Q!

We spent the evening helping our Suze celebrate her birthday. You are the bomb, girl, have a great year!

Happy Trails!

Another family morning bike ride, this time on the Seminole-Wekiva Trail.

Science-centered day.

Today's field trip brought us to the Orlando Science Center, a place very familiar to the kids, but still fun nonetheless. The current touring exhibit is invention at play, which was pretty interesting. Among many other things, Leah, Jack & Andrew constructed their own pinball machines and learned the mechanics of windsurfing.

UPDATED TO SHOW PROOF OF WILL:
In regards to the comments of the last two posts... Will always attends our field trips with us. Here is proof:

Here he is watching a documentary on the origins of invention:

And here he is studying paleontology:

Art Class.

UPDATED: the finished products...

Today, Art Class at the Mancuso Homeschool Academy (both branches) was held at Plaster-rific!, where Leah, Jack, and Andy each painted their piece with great care and remarkable talent. Even though we had our times mixed up and arrived about 45 minutes before they opened, the super-nice owner (and smart businesswoman) let us come in and have the place to ourselves!

On another note, we would like to say hi to Daddy, who is in NY helping Grandma and Uncle Ed celebrate their birthdays. We miss you! Happy Birthday, Grandma!

Freewheelin!

First family trailride complete! We drove into Winter Springs, a 15min. drive from home, and hopped on the Cross-Seminole Trail at the Black Hammock Trailhead. It was hot, but a good ride. We only had one wipeout! We hit Tijuana Flats for some quesadillas and SMAACMS Sauce, and then headed for home - but, alas! John & Jack decided to jump out and do some off-road mountain biking at the Environmental Center.

And a new bike was had by all. UPDATED

Jack's turn!

Before we left for SC last week, I got a new bike with a seat for Will on the back. We plan to hit the many bike trails that have sprung up around central Florida, and perhaps enter a few organized bike rides. Meanwhile, Leah decided that the little pink bike with the basket on the handlebars is not a good fit for a cool middle-schooler. We gave it to a neighbor whose 4 year-old daughter is big into the pretty-pink-princess stage, and then yesterday, John took Leah to the bike shop where she picked out a pretty blue hybrid - and John managed to find one he liked as well. So, it looks like we are in for some family bike rides!

Random Saturday.

We are having a relaxing Saturday here... Jack is at his cousins', Leah is riding her bike, John is rearranging his office, and Will is getting ready for school. Oh, and Seamore is sleeping in a patch of sunlight and Clyde is barking - nothing new there! I am of course, taking pictures of these things.

And what are YOU up to??
