1492.

Today Karen and I took the kids to see The Nina, an authentic reproduction of Christopher Columbus' favorite ship. (Check it out here: thenina.com) It is spending this week in port in Sanford, and is open to the public for tours. It was pretty neat to see the how the Europeans made their way across the Atlantic to the "New" World during the Age of Discovery. Looks like it was certainly a rough ride!

Lessons in Engineering.

We got out the Brio tracks for Will after he inherited a load of the trains (thanks, CJ & Aaron!)... he had a great time driving his train cars around the track Jack built for him. Then, he said, "Tracks? We don't need no stinkin' tracks!" (or something like that) and demolished it.

By the way, Happy Valentine's Day Wishes to All!

Disney's Fort Wilderness...

Jack's Cub Scout Pack camped out at Disney's Ft. Wilderness this weekend. Since he had a basketball game Saturday afternoon, we drove him (along with Leah and Ashley) down to meet up with the crew Saturday evening. I am sure Karen has many more pictures she will post on the Den 5 Blog, but here are just a few I shot the short time we were there...

Field Trip!

Last night, Leah, Jack, Andy and I went to Otronicon, "Orlando's Ultimate Video Game Experience", held for 10 days at the Orlando Science Center.
It was Gamer Heaven. Wall-to-wall games, live competition, simulation demos, digital art gallery... but we all agreed that the most fun was Videotopia's Classic Arcade Games. It was very educational for the kids to see firsthand how their parents lived through the pioneer days. Pac-Man, Centipede, Tron, Space Invaders, even Pong! They did love playing the game that spawned the great Mario... Donkey Kong! They had a display showing the history of video games, complete with actual game systems.
The kids were very impressed when I pointed out Colecovision, the game we had as kids, and Intellevision, the game my cousins had. Of course, Atari was the most popular, but we Terry's never bowed to peer pressure... our games were way better graphically, plus, you could actually play Atari games on the Colecovision... but I digress...

So, we did have fun, and look forward to the weekend, when cousin Adam will be competing for big bucks on the IMAX screen!

Happy Wednesday!

Jack spent some time today painting his marshmallow shooter, which will be revealed at tonight's Pack meeting. Will kept him company out on the patio, hoarding his wooden blocks. Leah is outside with her friend, I think they are writing a screenplay. I am just taking pictures for a change...
Hope everyone is Happy!

A Boy and his Cars.

Since Will has recently taken an interest in toy cars, I brought out a rather large box of old matchbox cars for him to check out. Most of these cars belonged to uncles Sean and Heath back in the day... (don't worry, Caleb, we will share with you!) Will thoroughly examined each one, and then did one of two things: either placed it nicely in a little pile by his feet, or, if it seemed to disappoint him in some way, threw it over his shoulder.

Cover Art.

Jack and Andrew are starting a band... Jack on drums, Andy on guitar. While they think of a name (there were definitely some weird ideas being passed around last night), I got some shots that might look good on the cover of their first album... can't you just feel the rocker-angst?
